Back from vacation

August 30, 2009

Four and a half weeks of vacation. It was wonderful in many ways. A few days were spent driving around in Sweden, but most of the time were spent in my fiance’s family’s summer home. Yes, we got engaged this summer down by the lake at the summer house.

This is the view we have from the porch where we sit long into the evenings and relax. So there has been quite a bit of knitting going on. However, I haven’t decided if I should send the pattern to Knitty for their summer issue or not. I’m leaning towards just writing it down and putting it here and on Ravelry…. It’s a baby cardigan by the way. Made one for my nephew.

I’ve also bought quite a bit of yarn. The ideas just won’t stop coming. These are some of the things I’ll be working on after I finish Broderie.

No more yarn

March 11, 2009

No more yarn purchases. Ever. No I’m kidding. But I’ve decided not to buy any more yarn for the rest of the year. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. The stash will get me through and if by chance my stash will be no more I will allow myself to end this ban.

I’m allowing myself to buy two tickets for the yarn lottery and a maximum of two Triinu patterns at the knit gathering last weekend of May. Should someone feel so inclined as to buy me yarn I shall will accept the offering. Yarn for gift knitting will be allowed if I pay no more then 50%. My fibre stash is quite small so I’m allowing moderate purchases in that area should I run out.

The rules have been set now I just need to follow them. I think it is doable and I definitely must stop constantly consume for the sake of it.

Now some more interesting stuff. I think I will add the Aeolian shawl from spring Knitty. Unfortunately, I just realised I can’t knit it this year since I would like to use beads as described in the pattern. Bummer.

A new year

January 1, 2009

Another year has swooshed by with the speed of light. The last couple of months has been tough due to work. A lot of energy went into write and defend my thesis. I’ve been completely drained of energy and creative spirits have been low. However, the defence went well and I now have a new degree and with some well needed rest during the holidays I’m starting to go back to my old happy self.

A brand new year with new and old projects to work on, but first lets reveal what I have been working on.

In the above image is my Miyuki pig. It was quite fiddly but fun. It was bought like a kit with instructions and all necessary beads.

I’ve also finished two hats but I’ll put them in a separate post.

Terrible terrible thing

February 24, 2008

I need a new computer. Just  now I could not accces Ravlery!!! No ravelry….. only a Problem loading page. What should I do? Before the terror took a complete hold of me I started my boyfriends computer and with fingers crossed I entered the url and pressed entered. Oh those long long 2 s before I was greeted by the login page of our dear dear Ravelry. Halleluja! What would I do without my daily dose of Ravelry.

Therefore I need to buy a new computer. My computer is old and should be retired already. I’m thinking of getting a laptop, a cheapo thing maybe with Linux and not Windows.

The slowest knitter ever

January 23, 2008

I must be the slowest knitter ever. There’s a gazillion rows still left to knit on my Triinu shawl. So if I knit two rows every week (probably more in the begin and less in the end) I might finish some time next year. Maybe sooner if I can get enough knitting time during the vacation as I did last year.

But, fortunatley for me I have no deadlines. The only thing I have knit that’s not for me was this baby surprice jacket for my soon to be niece. It was gifted last month.
BSJ

It’s knit in Sandness Lanett on 3.5 mm needles. A quick knit, but I must try to remember not to knit striped things. I really don’t like to weave in the ends. This was my first ever Elisabeth Zimmerman pattern. As you knit it is great to see the fun shape growing between the needles. And it actually ends up as a baby jacket. Magic!
