I decided to go with the buttons I had bought, and finally finished the cardigan earlier this week.

It is difficult to capture the real colour; it is less blue and more green.

Pattern: Broderie by Connie Chang Chinchio

Yarn: Drops Muskat colour 74 petrol around 9 or 10 balls

Needles: 3.5 mm circular, both addi lace and a bamboo due to airport security reasons

Hook: 3.5 mm

Notions: 2  withe mother of pearl buttons

Modifications: I did knitted set-in sleeves because I didn’t know how much yarn I had. It would most definitely been easier to knit bottom up sleeves as per instruction, but it was nice practice.

Notes: Gorgeous design with a clear and easy to follow pattern. My bamboo needles are slightly green from the yarn. I was worried that the edges would curl too much, but they turned out quite nicely. Maybe because I did a sewn bind off?

Broderie cardigan is almost done. Some ends to weave in and fix the closure. I’ve put it off for a while now but a few days ago I decided to get it over with. But as I tried to position the buttons, it just didn’t feel right.

I did have a small ball of yarn with me when I bought the buttons. They’re white mother of pearl. But maybe a bit smaller and a more matching colour.

I’m at home sick, but not too sick as I have just enough energy to knit and listen to a book.

Broderie is progressing slowly but surely. One of the sleeves are knitted to their final length, but not cast off. Hopefully the yarn will be enough to make the second sleeve equally long.

I started on another cardigan yesterday, and am already on the third ball. Lets hope I have enough to make what I have planned. I do think it is only due to the fact that I like rather dense knitted fabric, and so am using a smaller needle size compared to the projects I looked at to estimate yardage….

I’ve knitted an octopus worth of sleeves on my Broderie. I do not like seaming, but there was a time when I really questioned not knitting the sleeves as the pattern said.  Unfortunately I am not sure how much yarn I have. Therefore the top down approach.

Hopefully, I am now knitting the final version of the sleeves. The good thing though is that I now know how to knit set-in sleeves. The final version is basically taken from Wendy Bernard’s Custom knits, with short row shaping.

There’s is not much left now. Though I did realise that when knitting larger items like sweaters I tend to change gauge. Both sleeves are knit at a tighter gauge than the upper body. As long as it I’ll be happy.

Broderie is coming along nicely. As is seen in the picture I’m knitting on the sleeves. First time I tried so I just winged it…had to frog it completely. Second try looks more promising. I’m pondering changing the bottom, add some sort of hemming to not have it curl.

Only a third of the last row left on the shawl.

I’m in France for a workshop for work. The weather is great. Yesterday was sunny and about 30 degrees C. I got burnt, especially on my forehead and chest. So today I’ll stay in the shade and get some more knitting done.

I brought only one project – Broderie. But I knew it wouldn’t be a problem, I’ve wanted to pick this up for a while now. I’ve soon knitted to where I was before frogging. Hopefully this time it fits (crossing my fingers).

Now I’ll go and see if there is a place in the shade overlooking the sea where I can sit and knit.

This image was taken earlier this week from the hotel in Les Issambres between Cannes and St Tropez.

Sometime during spring last year I started knitting on Drops 105, 34 in muskat in colour 74 (petrol). As often is the case I was a bit delusional when starting, thinking it would be done in a jiffy. As if. But that is not why I did not finish it. This is why (sorry about the bad photo).

I don’t remember what size I chose to knit but it was definitely too big.

Before frogging it I will check it to see what size because I still like the design and might knit it someday. But this  particular yarn is now being knit up as a cardigan. Hopefully I have enough. It should at least be enough for a cardigan with shorter sleeves and i do like 3/4-length.

This is Broderie by Connie Chang Chinchio from the winter issue of Twist Collective. It was love at first sight. I started it last week (on the 12th). The gauge is a little bit off and I’m combining two sizes to fit my body better. It’s a great knit. Nice pattern. The only problem is that there is a few knots in the yarn and that my  3.5 mm knit picks options needle tip is broken. The thread is worn out. Luckily I had a spare lace needle which hopefully won’t change my gauge too much.
