I am soooo happy

October 20, 2009

Yeeez, I have a spot at the great knitting event happening here in March: Stickfest i Väst. Now I need to save loads of money to spend on yarn.

It was just posted that sending an email at 10:00 was not enough to get a spot (in Swedish). Uh, I thought I was safe. Guess you can never be safe with so  many crazy knitters. I would have been crushed if I’d not gotten in.

Thank you Marie, Linda and Ingrid for all the hard work. I guess you have figured out just how much we love what you do.

Back from vacation

August 30, 2009

Four and a half weeks of vacation. It was wonderful in many ways. A few days were spent driving around in Sweden, but most of the time were spent in my fiance’s family’s summer home. Yes, we got engaged this summer down by the lake at the summer house.

This is the view we have from the porch where we sit long into the evenings and relax. So there has been quite a bit of knitting going on. However, I haven’t decided if I should send the pattern to Knitty for their summer issue or not. I’m leaning towards just writing it down and putting it here and on Ravelry…. It’s a baby cardigan by the way. Made one for my nephew.

I’ve also bought quite a bit of yarn. The ideas just won’t stop coming. These are some of the things I’ll be working on after I finish Broderie.

No more yarn

March 11, 2009

No more yarn purchases. Ever. No I’m kidding. But I’ve decided not to buy any more yarn for the rest of the year. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. The stash will get me through and if by chance my stash will be no more I will allow myself to end this ban.

I’m allowing myself to buy two tickets for the yarn lottery and a maximum of two Triinu patterns at the knit gathering last weekend of May. Should someone feel so inclined as to buy me yarn I shall will accept the offering. Yarn for gift knitting will be allowed if I pay no more then 50%. My fibre stash is quite small so I’m allowing moderate purchases in that area should I run out.

The rules have been set now I just need to follow them. I think it is doable and I definitely must stop constantly consume for the sake of it.

Now some more interesting stuff. I think I will add the Aeolian shawl from spring Knitty. Unfortunately, I just realised I can’t knit it this year since I would like to use beads as described in the pattern. Bummer.

Process or Product

January 24, 2009

My absence from the blog is not due to non-existent knitting. It is because I feel guilty almost ashamed. Why? Quite unnecessary, but I know I’m not the only one dreading the increasing amounts of WIPs (or UFOs if you will). Add a severe case of startitis and the burden is increased even more.

The Finish or frog knit-along may be one route to follow. However, I feel it is not for me, at least not at the moment. Maybe I’m more of a process knitter. Not that I do not care about the product. It is a feeling of great joy when an FO turns out nice. But perhaps with all the stress during the last couple of months I need knitting to relax. There should not be any elements of must and must-not to my knitting. But to have a piece of mind and to not feel guilty about my knitting, I’ve decided to just say no to the guilt. From now on I will share with you what I’m working on and all the projects I started last year and not shown. But I shall try not to buy yarn, except for things for my niece and soon to be nephew.

No more guilt, only joyful knitting!

A new year

January 1, 2009

Another year has swooshed by with the speed of light. The last couple of months has been tough due to work. A lot of energy went into write and defend my thesis. I’ve been completely drained of energy and creative spirits have been low. However, the defence went well and I now have a new degree and with some well needed rest during the holidays I’m starting to go back to my old happy self.

A brand new year with new and old projects to work on, but first lets reveal what I have been working on.

In the above image is my Miyuki pig. It was quite fiddly but fun. It was bought like a kit with instructions and all necessary beads.

I’ve also finished two hats but I’ll put them in a separate post.
